Overview

Sri Lanka Holidays introduces a delightful island of charm and surprises. This small island has a lot to offer, with golden beaches on one side, green hills on the other, and old temples near busy town streets, giving a nice mix of old and new. Sri Lanka is wonderful because it has clean beaches, quiet mountain villages, and busy places like Colombo, where old traditions and modern life live side by side. As you go will find sights and sounds you may adore; the sound of ocean waves lapping on a picturesque beach or the quietness of a pathway through a rural village. Every place you will go will prove to be different, and sure to find it and enjoy it. Whether you want to stretch out on the beach and rest, hike through jungles and mountains, or get lost in local culture and customs, you will find something waiting for you in Sri Lanka. Don't forget to try the local dishes like rice (rice and curry), kottu, and hoppers - and if you like, do a cooking course to learn how to prepare your delicious meals! And if you visit temples, please dress appropriately, no public affection, and be sure to always ask before taking photos. Please stay safe - drink bottled water as a precaution and check your vaccinations before you travel. The local currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LK.). Many places accept credit cards, but it's useful to have some if you go to markets or small shops. Your time in Sri Lanka will be vibrant in color, with smiling people, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Sri Lanka Holidays promise memories of a lifetime, whether you are enjoying fresh tea in the cooler hills of Nuwara Eliya or going on a safari spotting leopards and elephants in Yala or Wilpattu. What else? For beach lovers, Bentota and Mirissa offer great beaches, whale watching, and any other water sports you can think of. Sri Lanka offers so much more than beaches, it has ancient cities, revered temples, colourful festivals, forested trails, surfing, and if you are looking for relaxation, great Ayurvedic therapies, restorative retreats, and yoga in peaceful surroundings. The best time to travel to the west, south, and highlands is from December to May. The East Coast from May to September. Off-season travel provides lower prices and less crowded conditions. Travelling is easy, your ETA can be obtained online for a stay of 30 days. Additionally, ensure your passport is valid for at least six months.
Sri Lanka has it all - scenic train routes like Kandy to Ella, tuk-tuks, buses, private cars, and short flights, plus types of accommodation from big hotels to cute guesthouses. There are numerous types of accommodations to choose from, you can go for a luxury hotel, a boutique hotel, an eco-dome in nature, or one of the few basic hostels available. If you prefer a hotel that is on the beach, you will fall asleep to the sound of the waves at night. If you would rather stay inland/come into the country, you may not be that far away from where you might be trying to find, but you will be one with your environment. Sri Lankan food is great; rice and curries, hoppers, kottu, and you can do food tours and/or cooking classes to learn more about food. When you visit any temples, wear conservative clothes; be respectful and do not display affection in public; ask the permission from someone to take a photo; only drink bottled water; and check with your doctor if vaccinations are necessary.  You will be using the Sri Lankan currency, the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). Most tourism businesses will accept credit cards, but small shops will only take cash.
